               Epigram XXI.


                Germans killed millions and were evil,
                while the city of Dresden was bombarded
                until it was another Carthage, Hiroshima
                and Nagasaki made by an act of love.
5              Empty seats at the Nuremberg Trials.
                In Hegelian terms, History is God.
                ʻGood always conquers evil!,ʼ says a judge,
                and his breath smells like he were dying.
                ʻPower is virtue,ʼ say Spinoza and Nietzsche.
10            I cannot understand why they are vilified.
                They were exposing what the others hided.
                ʻOnly the dead have seen the end of war,ʼ
                wrote the Epicurean Santayana, in Rome.
