            Hypogram XII

            The man said: ʻThe Earth orbits around the Sun.ʼ

            A sepulchral silence fell over the warm room.

            Burst of laughter and cries of ʻYouʼre a fool!ʼ

            And someone added: ʻCanʼt you see that the Sun

5          Moves in the sky, idiot?ʼ And the man said:

            ʻMatter is active and there is no divine design.ʼ

            Newtonians laughed and said that gravity was

            Invisible because it was not caused by matter.

            Centuries later, Einstein confirmed that matter

10        Caused gravity by deforming space-time. And

            The man said: ʻEvolution by natural selection

            Creates adaptations in animals, not divine design.ʼ

            And they replied: ʻIt is true that the Earth is not

            The center of the Universe; true that matter causes

15        Gravity and it is active, so there is no divine design,

            But that we are animals? That is too much for us.ʼ
